This project celebrates a decade-long musical friendship between acclaimed Irish fiddler Martin Hayes and Brooklyn Rider. Seeking to define common ground between two different bowed instrument traditions, The Butterfly features hauntingly beautiful arrangements of well-known tunes in the repertoire, transporting the listener and exploring the depth of expression within what could seem like deceptively simple melodies, but do not be fooled, for they belie a whole world and history behind them.
